Queen Elizabeth celebrates her birthday tomorrow
Queen Elizabeth will be turning 95 years old this week, on Wednesday the 21st of April.
As we know, Prince Philip's funeral was held on Saturday after his untimely death. The Duke of Edinburgh's death caused Britain to go into a state of mourning, and his funeral was viewed by millions across the country.
Last year, Queen Elizabeth's birthday celebrations were extremely muted due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
This year will be much the same. Due to Prince Philip's death, Queen Elizabeth will be keeping this year's event very low-key. Though her official birthday is celebrated by the public in June, the queen has always celebrated privately with her family on her real birthday, April 21.
The Telegraph has reported that this year, Queen Elizabeth will simply be having a private lunch with a small number of family members.
The customary gun salutes that typically sound at midday in London will not go ahead, out of respect for the Duke of Edinburgh's passing.
Queen Elizabeth usually also marks her birthday by releasing a portrait of herself. She has asked for that to be cancelled this year.
“He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim, or we shall ever know.”

Speaking about Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth said "He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim, or we shall ever know."
Queen Elizabeth will spend the coming weeks mourning Prince Philip's death and will no doubt be surrounded by members of the Royal Family.
